Annual Drive Every March!
In 2008 during a tour of the cancer ward at Mary Bridge Children’s hospital, we had the pleasure of meeting two young children going through treatment. At the end of their time, they were allowed to go to a treasure chest where they could pick out a children’s themed bandage to cover up where the IV had been. What we learned from the staff was that the hospital could
only purchase generic bandages and the kid-themed ones had to be donated. Sometimes just the choice of a favorite color or character on a bandage can cheer up a child, thus the TCT Bandage Drive was born.
How much of an impact does this event have? Since 2008, the Club has collected over 15,000 boxes of kid-themed bandages for Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. Every box contains a minimum of 20 bandages. This means we have put over 300,000 smiles on the faces of children through our efforts! This is the happy result of our annual bandage drive.
Our past efforts of collecting bandages has helped to provide enough to last throughout the current year. As a result, for 2018 Mary Bridge is also in need of new infant/toddler toys and latex free bandages.
Please bring as many containers of new non-toxic Play-Doh, new non-toxic coloring crayons, and new coloring books as you can! Christina Turner from MultiCare Health System will be on hand to help collect all of the wonderful donations from our friends and members.
