TCT’s MISSION: Promoting personal and professional growth within the transportation and local community. Since 1926, the Transportation Club of Tacoma centers on building bridges within the transportation industry while at the same time serving Tacoma and Pierce County communities through our charitable work.

Currently marking over 400 members strong, TCT is made up of professionals in the transportation industry, those who regularly use transportation services for their livelihood, as well as people who have an interest in local and global transportation and logistics. Membership includes diverse companies large and small including: railroads; steamship lines; trucking companies; warehousing and distribution; cold storage; terminal managers; coffee roasters; paper manufacturers; confectioners; freight forwarders; commercial real estate; banking; consulting; education – and the list keeps growing.

As our history is further written, one thing remains constant, being a member of the Transportation Club of Tacoma means you’ve joined an organization committed to enriching your life professionally and personally.

TCT’s monthly luncheon meetings regularly enjoy 120-200 attendees, providing exceptional networking opportunities. We invite relevant and engaging speakers with a story to tell, or a perspective on our growth and development as individuals and businesses. Our long-running college scholarship program annually awards to dozens of students, supporting the next generation of community leaders. Through a variety of fundraising activities, TCT also donates tens of thousands of dollars to our chosen charities: Emergency Food Network, Habitat for Humanity, and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.

Here are just a few of our accomplishments over the past year:

  • $18,600 in 2011 Scholarship Awards to 21 students
  • $22,000 raised for Emergency Food Network at the Holiday luncheon in December 2010, bringing our total food contributions since 1999 to $1.25 million
  • $12,000 shared between Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Habitat for Humanity, raised at the 2010 Spring Open Charity Golf Tournament held annually in May
  • 2,637 bandages raised at the annual Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital Bandage Drive in March 2011

By providing the opportunity for our members and guests to regularly meet in an atmosphere of fellowship and social exchange of ideas regarding local and global transportation, as well as giving our members the opportunity to make a difference to their communities through the charitable organizations we support, the Transportation Club of Tacoma has seen its membership grow to 400.

We are proud that our membership provides the South Sound community with significant contributions to local charities like Emergency Food Network, Habitat for Humanity and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital. In addition, we’re able to consistently contribute a significant amount of scholarship funding to the family members of our membership. And, one of the best things is we have a lot of fun doing it!

We do it because we are driven to make a difference in the transportation industry and our local community.

We invite you to be a member of the fastest growing transportation club in the country. In 2007 we reached 250 members, in 2008 we reached 272, and today we stand over 400 members!

Please join us at an upcoming luncheon or event to see if you would like to become a part of this dynamic organization. Whether it be our charitable work, monthly networking opportunities or key guest speakers, the Transportation Club of Tacoma is focused on making a difference in our community and in our industry.

What Our Members Say!

"I joined to renew my old camaraderie with folks who I knew at SeaLand. I thoroughly enjoy the meetings, which is quite a refreshing experience from the routine tasks at the workplace. The most memorable event was seeing Jim Stanaway (a great golfing buddy) receive his well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award."

Tom Owens, Facility Manager, IKEA Distribution Services

"It’s impressive to me that the Club consistently puts together strong speakers and programs for the membership. Equally impressive is the large turnout that each meeting attracts."

Rod Koon, Senior Manager, Communications, Port of Tacoma

"TCT is a tremendous blend of transportation and logistics professionals involved in water, rail, air and truck. The quality of speakers TCT continually presents is unparalleled, and the networking that members enjoy by their affiliation can be very beneficial."

Ross Cook, Executive Vice President Sales, Gordon Trucking, Inc.

"TCT is THE BEST trade group for professional networking and community activities!"

Eric Burkhead, The Emerald Queen Hotel & Casinos
